Individual Instructor Insurance

This insurance program has been specifically designed to the unique needs of an individual sports instructor. This fits the instructors who teach swim lessons at their personal residence, customers residence or commercial facilities.

This coverage is for an individual, not a business with employees and/or a facility which needs coverage.  Also note, this coverage does not provide excess medical or abuse and molestation.

Membership of USA Swimming, US Swim School Association, SwimAmerica or Total Immersion is
NOT a requirement for this coverage.


A U.S. based instructor age 18 or older conducting private or group instruction in any of the following sports is eligible for this program:

– Baseball                              – Lacrosse
– Basketball                          – Racquetball
– Baton Twirling                  – Road running
– Bowling                              – Soccer
– Cheerleading                     – Softball
– Cross country                    – Swimming
– Dance                                  – Table tennis
– Fencing                               – Tennis
– Figure skating                    – Track and Field
– Football                               – Tumbling (Floor only, no apparatus)
– Golf                                      – Volleyball
– Hockey                                – Wrestling


Commercial General Liability with Broadening Endorsement-coverage which protects the insured against liability claims for bodily injury and property damage arising out of premises, operations, product and completed operations and personal and advertising injury (slander and liable).

Legal Liability to Participants-coverage which offers protection agains bodily injury liability claims brought by persons participating in sports activities under the direction of the insured.

Professional Liability-provides protection against wrongful acts (breach of duty, neglect, error, ommission, misstatement or a misleading statement in the dicharge of sports activities) that occur under the operations of the insured.

Ineligible Operations/Program Exclusions


Operations not eligible for this program include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Certified athletic trainers
  2. Coaching or organized competitive athletic teams
  3. Instructors under the age of 18
  4. Instructors employment as an exempt or a non-exempt employee of a school, university or college
  5. Instruction of the following:

-Canoeing                      -Gymnastics

-Kayaking                      -Rowing

-Cycling                         -Lifeguarding

-Scuba Diving               -Diving

-Skiing                           -Equestrian

-Martial arts                  -Surfing

-Amusement devides (rides, slides, inflatable, bungees, climbing walls, dunk tanks)
-Employment related practics
-Open water instruction
-Medical, therapy or health care services
-Operation, ownership or management of a commercial sports facility
-Physicals/stress testing
-Physical therapy, message or salon services
-Sale or distribution of herbal medicinal and/or nutritional products
-Those operations listed as ineligible
-Violation of statutes that govern emails, faxes, phone calls or other methods of sending materials or information.
